Yes, I often look back and think about how far I've come, especially in the last few years. God knows I still have a long way yet to go, but I am so comforted by his love for me that I'm not afraid of the growth yet to come, even if it's painful.
God calls himself Father and adopts us as his very own children, chooses us in love, and joins us to his family, all because we are beloved. Ironically, the house I was born into was not one of peace, and my adoptive father committed serious crimes against me.
I am considering what to do with my name, and how to make it mean something for me today.
But what matters most is I have been adopted into the family of God.
